Meet the teachers

Welcome to 4^th grade! We are so excited to have you on-board!

 

We will hold our first grade level get together in September with a Writing Workshop. This is a fun and informative way for our parents and students to become acclimated to the writing techniques, strategies and creation of tools necessary to excel on this year’s Florida Writes exam.

 

We will be offering our students opportunities to show off their gained knowledge to parents on designated CK (Core Knowledge) Nights throughout the year. Get ready for an exciting year of exploration where you’ll delve into Europe in the Middle Ages and the fascinating cultures of the African Kingdoms. Our unit on Ancient China will certainly come alive during one of our CK Nights. You’ll also unravel the marvels of our own American History in the making by learning of the American Revolution, constitution, presidents and politics, as well as reformers who made great strides for our nation.

 

Riveting stories of King Arthur, Robin Hood, Robinson Crusoe, and Gulliver’s Travels (to name a few) will certainly engage you! A CK Night will be a great way to share these with parents!

 

Math and Science hold exciting challenges for you as we introduce interesting concepts that you’ve never seen before!

 

Our fourth grade team collectively welcomes you and shares in our utmost focus on the education of the individual student. We accomplish this through small group instruction, cooperative learning and one-on-one instruction. We welcome parents to volunteer in and outside of the classroom and to work with us to accomplish the very best for students.

Jeanne Aronow		I am originally from Long Island, New York. I graduated with my elementary education degree from Purdue University and have attained my Masters in Reading from Barry University. My family and I have enjoyed living in Cape Coral for the past five years. I have been with Oasis since January, 2006 and look forward to many more rewarding years here. Classroom Webpage
Lisa Bellini		I received both my Bachelor’s Degree in French as well as my Master’s Degree in Secondary Education from Holy Family College in Philadelphia. I taught French and Spanish at the high school level full-time for four years until the birth of my son. I then entered the business world for several years until my move to Cape Coral in 2005. Joining me are my husband, Al and my two lovely children, Dominic and Angeline. I have loved my Oasis experience as a Teacher’s Assistant and Substitute for the past three years and look forward to a long and prosperous partnership in Fourth Grade. Classroom Webpage
Barb Hess		I have been teaching for ten years, and am looking forward to being here at Oasis.  I moved last year from Illinois, where I graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago.  After teaching Math for many years at the middle school level, I was ready to move on to the challenge of fourth grade, and the writing curriculum last year.  I truly enjoy teaching all of the subjects and getting to know each child from being able to work with them in each area.  Since last August when my husband, daughter and I have moved down, I have enjoyed every minute and I am looking forward to a wonderful year!
Pamela Herndon		Hello, my name is Pamela Herndon.  I am a first year teacher in 3rd grade here at Oasis Elementary. I graduated from University of Alabama in Birmingham with a degree in Psychology and a Masters in Elementary Education from the University of Phoenix.  I moved down here 9 years ago with my husband Charlie.  We have two daughters – Laura and Mary.  We love the sunny Florida weather and visiting the beach as often as we can.
Jane Phegley		I raised 3 beautiful children on a farm in southern Indiana.  My oldest daughter has blessed me with 2 granddaughters and 1 grandson who also live on a farm.  I graduated from Indiana State University in Terre Haute with Larry Bird (for those old enough to remember).  I received an Elementary Education degree K-6 with a Special Education minor.  While my children were young I worked part-time as a substitute teacher and an assistant.  I began full-time teaching in the fall of 1996.  This will be my 12th year of teaching, 7 in Indiana and 4 here in Florida.  I have taught grades K-4, Special Education, Reading, and Gifted Ed.  I am living my childhood dream…to be a teacher.
Nancy Singleton		After graduating with a Business Degree from Lynchburg College in Virginia, I spent 20 years in Savannah, Georgia with a career in banking, followed by a career of being a mother and professional volunteer. I spent years as a PTO committee chair and President prior to moving to Cape Coral 8 years ago.  I then pursued a career as a 4th grade teacher with the Lee County School District, where I have been for almost 4 years. My husband and I are the proud parents of a 14 year old daughter, an 18 year old son, 3 dogs and a bunny! I love to watch soccer, dance, go to the beach and teach – especially writing! I am so honored to be part of this awesome Oasis family and look forward to a great year.
Nicole Vacchiano		Hi my name is Nicole Vacchiano. I was born in West Islip, New York and moved to Cape Coral in 2002. I graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University with my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and I also have my ESOL endorsement. On my free time I enjoy going to the beach and spending time with my family and friends. I am so thrilled to be teaching at Oasis Charter Elementary!
