Meet our teachers
Welcome to Fifth Grade at Oasis Charter Elementary!
When describing fifth grade, I believe the great Dr. Seuss described it best when he stated, “Oh the places you’ll go!” Fifth grade curriculum and activities are an adventure for students. With this being the students last year in elementary school we understand what a monumental and transitional time this is. Challenges and academic achievements await each student in fifth grade, as we begin to prepare students for middle school next year. Our Core Knowledge curriculum allows us to study a vast array of topics while reaching the students through technology, cooperative learning, one-on-one instruction, and small group instruction.
In history, we venture west with the pioneers on the Oregon Trail and study both sides of the Civil War. The eccentric Maya, Aztec, & Incas are examined, as well as the numerous explorers like Magellan, Vespucci, and Dias. We will study the art, culture, people, and beliefs of the Renaissance. While visiting other places like Japan and Russia, students explore the geography of the world.
Mathematics takes us on a voyage through geometry, long division, data and statistics, measurement, ratios, percentage and much more. Students are asked to not only compute the problems, but also to explain the reasoning behind their answer. This is only one of the many areas where we incorporate writing. Writing is integrated throughout our entire curriculum.
Science is of great importance and an assortment of topics are covered throughout the year like the functions of plants, life processes, habitats and ecosystems of animals, earth’s features, matter and energy. During the year we focus intently on the scientific method and perform experiments depicting this method. Students are then asked to participate in the annual science fair, using the scientific method skills incorporated throughout the year.
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Sherlock Holmes, Little Women, Don Quixote, and The Secret Garden are a few of the fantastic places we go through the world of reading! Students also create quarterly book reports that differ in genre and include game boards, posters, case files, and more.
Students can look forward to our culminating project, “Night at the Museum” where our Core Knowledge curriculum comes to life through the persona of their character or figure in history. It is truly a magnificent opportunity for students to display the great knowledge they have gained from the many different areas we cover throughout the year. Also, the graduation trip is always a hit with the students, as we head to Busch Gardens in Tampa as a grand finale for the year! Students who work hard reap great benefits!
Finally, we encourage parents to take an active role in their child’s education and welcome volunteering both in and out of class. The Fifth Grade team hopes to make this an incredibly memorable and eventful year for your child! “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own, and you know what you know. And you are the one who'll decide where you'll go. Oh the places you'll go.”

I was born and raised in the small town of Garrett, Indiana. I attended Indiana University where I received my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with an endorsement in reading and U.S. History. In April 2006 I completed an eight week reading practicum in Perth, Australia as the reading specialist in grades 2-7. Shortly after, I moved from Indiana to my new home in the Sunshine State! I love traveling and learning about different cultures. In my spare time I enjoy reading and going to the beach with my dog Roxy. This will be my third year teaching fifth grade at Oasis Elementary and am proud to be part of a wonderful school family. Together we are going to have a great 2008-2009 school year!

I was born and raised in a wonderful, small town in central Indiana. I graduated from Manchester College located in Indiana with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. I worked for a year as an assistant teacher in first grade, before moving to sunny Florida in 2005. This is my fifth year with the Oasis family in fifth grade and I couldn’t be happier about having the opportunity to teach at such an exciting and talented place! Some of my favorite free time activities include reading, spending time with my wonderful husband, playing with my two energetic puppies, as well as cheering on the Cubs & Colts!

I am a proud to say I am a Florida girl through and through! Being a native of Ft. Myers, I love spending time boating, fishing and reading on the beach. My other hobbies include scrapbooking, photography, reading, going to Everblades games, watching Nascar (go #14!), and Seminole football. I have been married to Jeff, my high school sweetheart, for 13 years and we have 2 amazing daughters and 2 chocolate labs.
I am a graduate of the University of South Florida and I’m currently pursuing my Masters’ Degree from Nova Southeastern University.
This is my fourteenth year of teaching and I am as excited to come to school each day as I was fourteen years ago! I am proud to be a part of the Oasis family and thrilled that my own children have the opportunity to experience all that the City of Cape Coral Charter School System has to offer!

My name is Stacie Worley and this is my fourth year teaching fifth grade at Oasis Elementary School. I am a native of Connecticut, but my husband and I have lived in Cape Coral for over fourteen years. We are actively involved in our church and community, and call southwest Florida our home. We have three children all in the City of Cape Coral Charter School system, and couldn’t be more pleased. The Oasis environment is positive, and the curriculum is challenging. There is no better place for our children. I transferred from St. Joseph College and graduated from Barry University summa cum laude with a BS in Elementary Education and an ESOL endorsement. I firmly believe that an excellent education lays a firm foundation for success. I enjoy teaching at Oasis, and know that you will find it to be a wonderful experience as well.
