Meet our teacher

The focus of music class is on activities and experiences that illustrate important musical concepts and terms, and introduces important composers and works.  The music curriculum at Oasis Elementary follows the Core Knowledge music curriculum as closely as possible.

 

The three main areas of focus in music are:
     -Elements of Music
                 *This includes knowledge and understanding of musical terms and musical notation.
     -Listening and Understanding
                 *Students are exposed to a wide range of music and introduced to important composers, works and musical time periods.  
       -Songs
                 *Students learn to sing, play and perform songs that are part of the children’s music and folk music traditions.

Ashley Marsh

I grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and went to college at Capital University Conservatory of Music in Columbus, Ohio. After graduating in 2005 with a bachelor of Music Education I moved to Florida to attended graduate school at The University of Florida, where I earned my Master of Music. I was hired by Lee County in 2007, and taught in the county for two years before coming to Oasis. On the weekends I play flute with The Gulf Coast Symphony.  I just got married in April, and live with my husband and Sheltie puppy Zeke in Fort Myers. I am very excited to now be teaching at Oasis!
