Odyssey of the Mind Club
Odyssey of the Mind is an international organization designed for any student K-12 and beyond. It gives children the chance to “think outside the box” by solving hypothetical problems. These problems may include building a machine or structure and preparing a skit that illustrates the problem and solution.
The children get to work as team and express themselves creatively. This organization not only fosters good sportsmanship, but leadership as well.
Any student and parent interested in participating as a member or coach needs to be able to commit to the team meeting/ practice schedule from September to March/ April depending on how well any given team does at the regional competition. Parents: this is a good way to get your volunteer hours in!
This year, we had four teams compete at the Regional competition held at Island Coast HS here in Cape Coral. We also had our Balsa Wood Team continue on to the State level competition at UCF in Orlando. The work may be long and hard, but it sure is FUN!!!

In this club, students build cardiovascular endurance by running over time and by playing games. It's a great way to get the brain going before school!
